Rebates and funding programs for solar panels in Edmonton

One of the most significant barriers for homeowners wanting to go solar is the upfront cost. The cost of solar has come down over the years, but it is still a significant investment. Fortunately, both governments and organizations are interested in helping homes and businesses become more sustainable. Homeowners can overcome that financial barrier by taking advantage of the available programs and solar rebates in Edmonton.

NuSolar offers solar installation in Edmonton. They share four opportunities for financial aid for homeowners who are ready to switch to the sun’s renewable energy!

Change Homes for Climate rebate

The City of Edmonton offers a rebate of $0.40/watt towards the cost of a new solar system. That covers about 15% of the cost of going solar.

For newly constructed homes and residential buildings, they’re offering a rebate of $0.30/watt. Check out the Change Homes for Climate rebate program.

Canada Greener Homes Grant

The Government of Canada has recently released the Canada Greener Homes Grant. Under this program, you’ll receive $1.00/watt up to $5,000 total for installing solar power in Edmonton. You’ll need an EnerGuide evaluation of your project before and after it’s complete. The grant covers $600 for these evaluations.

Canada Greener Homes Interest-Free Loan

Coming soon this summer, the Government of Canada is also offering interest-free loans for home energy retrofits that reduce emissions. This loan program will provide homeowners up to $40,000 to complete their projects. You can sign up to receive updates on when the loan program is available.

Clean Energy Improvement Program

The Alberta Municipal Services Corporation (AMSC) has partnered with the Municipal Climate Change Action Centre (MCCAC) to offer the Clean Energy Program. This program will provide upfront funding to homeowners and businesses so they can invest in renewable energy upgrades. Application intake will start this summer.

Ready to go solar?

By installing solar panels in Edmonton, you’ll reduce your carbon footprint and reduce electricity costs. If your solar system produces more energy than you need, that excess electricity goes into the grid and you’ll receive a credit on your electrical bill.

NuSolar can retrofit a solar system for your existing home. They can also assist with getting your new home build solar-ready. You’ll save money on energy, improve property value, and become a renewable energy leader in your community.
