Having new installation installed in your home is one of the smartest home upgrades you can do. According to Remodeling Magazine’s Cost vs. Value Report for 2017, upgrading the insulation in your attic is the ONLY home renovation that have a return on investment that is over 100 per cent. That means your resale value will increase more than the amount you paid for the insulation upgrade.

Summit Insulation in Edmonton offers a variety of insulation products that will improve your home’s energy efficiency and give maximum heat retention and home comfort this winter. They explain four types of insulation services:

Attic Insulation

Your home can lose a lot of energy through the attic, especially if your insulation is old and inefficient. Investing in blown-in fiberglass or cellulose insulation in your attic that meets and even exceeds current building code requirements is the most cost-effective way to reduce energy loss and lower your heating and cooling bills. In most cases, your new insulation can be blown in over top your old insulation. If you have water damage to the old insulation, Summit Insulation can remove it for you before installing the new product.

Blow-In-Blanket System (BIBS)

BIBS is a high thermal performance insulation system that uses loose fill, fiberglass that is blown into the wall, floor or ceiling cavity behind a proprietary fabric. This system offers high R-values by creating a seamless blanket of densely packed fiberglass that will not settle over time. The BIBS system eliminates all gaps around wires and pipes.

Wall Bar System

Wall Bar is a blown, thermal and acoustical insulation that can be used in exterior and interior walls, party walls and sloped ceilings. It is made of 100 per cent recycled paper, is non-toxic and resistant to pests, fire and mildew. It out performs fiberglass regarding maintaining it’s R-value in extremely cold temperatures and does not settle over time. Because it is so dense and is blown in, it will also fill in gaps around your pipes and wires.

Spray Foam

Spray foam insulation is sprayed into your wall and ceiling cavities in a liquid form that expands to create a closed cell rigid foam with a high R-value. It is more expensive than other insulation types because it can completely seal and restrict air flow. It is an ideal choice for joist ends, cantilevers and under bonus room floors that hang over the attached garage.
