Q. What are the benefits of installing solar panels?

A. Solar panels come with many benefits. Solar panels can help to lower your energy bills, as the energy used to power your home is coming from a natural source. By switching to a renewable energy source, you’ll help eliminate carbon emissions. They also help your home appeal to potential buyers. Solar panels can improve marketability and your home’s resale value.

Q. How do I monitor my solar panels?

A. You can monitor your solar panels using the SolarEdge app on your mobile devices. On the app, you’ll be able to see how much power the panels are providing your home. It will also show much they’ve charged during the day, and comparative views to see how your panels are doing during different times of the day, month, or year. SolarEdge also offers a consumption monitor, with it you can view not only your solar production but home consumption too!

Q. How do I know where to put the solar panels?

A. The most common way is with a grid-connected system. Grid systems are found on most rural and urban houses because they’re easy to install. This system connects your home’s solar panels to the utility. That way, the panels are hooked up to your home and can produce their own energy, while driving excess energy back to the utility system. This system requires very little maintenance. Plus, when you produce excess energy back to the grid, you’ll get a credit on your electricity bill.

Q. How do I know where to put the panels?

A. The experts at NuSolar will be able to provide you with a design plan for where the panels should go. Depending on the layout of your roof, the panels will face a certain direction & tilt, which will vary the system production. NuSolar will help select optimal locations that are exposed to the most sunlight (generally south-facing steeper roofs are the best here in Edmonton). Another factor to consider when installing solar panels is which areas of your roof are the strongest. They’ll also be able to analyze your current electric bill and compare it to what it could be with a solar system tailored to your home.
